Katie Roberts joined our Wrexham head office in October 2020 as a paralegal and was accepted onto our Solicitor Training Programme the following year. She was admitted as a Solicitor in January 2023 and is now a member of our Private Client team in Wrexham.
During her training Katie covered work in the Prison Law Department assisting with Prisoners Recalls and Paroles, and also the Family Department assisting with a mixture of Divorce and Children Proceedings as well as with DASU (Women’s Aid). Her last few months in training were in the Private Client Department, where she ultimately found her niche.
Dealing with Wills, Probate, Inheritance Tax Planning, Powers of Attorney and Trusts, our Private Client department has always been one of the busiest in the firm, but the covid pandemic of 2020-22 brought an unparalleled increase in workload as more people recognised the importance of planning for the future protection of their loved ones and their financial assets. With the private client team working from home during the pandemic, the department was able to manage the increased workload throughout.
Being a Private Client Solicitor means every day is different and comes with new challenges, because every client situation is different and every solution to those clients’ needs is individually tailor made. Katie says it is rewarding to know you are helping and guiding a client through what can be a particularly difficult and emotional time in their life.
Born in Chester but raised in North Wales, Katie graduated from University of Liverpool with a BA Hons degree in history before going on to gain a distinction in the Graduate Diploma in Law at University of Law, Chester, where she also did her LPC. Away from the office, Katie’s favourite pastimes are eating out and trying new restaurants, and musical theatre. Her love of reading and baking provided interesting distractions when the COVID pandemic prevented other pursuits.
