Q&A - Could we claim against hospital for cerebral palsy caused by oxygen starvation at daughters birth?
Q: For 2 years I underwent gruelling IVF treatment and finally got pregnant in 2016. My pregnancy was great but I had a very traumatic birth. I was in labour for 23 hours and eventually had a forceps delivery. I gave birth to a daughter, Eve, and I could not have been happier. After we took her home, Eve was struggling with feeding and her little body was making involuntary movements. After testing we have now been told that Eve has Cerebral Palsy, caused by a lack of oxygen to her brain during birth. Eve’s Physician has been fantastic, but I am concerned about what the future holds for Eve. Should I make a claim against the hospital?Read more

However, I have now met someone who is planning to move in with me and my ex-husband says when that happens he will no longer need to pay maintenance for our daughter. Is that right?Read more
Q. I have been a Special Guardian for my niece, who is 10, since 2012. This was a process that went through the Courts and at the time I had a Solicitor to represent me. The problem is that I don’t actually recall much of the information given to me back then. Now I feel I need some guidance as to what a Special Guardianship Order allows me to do, but I am struggling to find time to see a Solicitor. Can I go to someone else for some help?Read more
