Frances Cartwright is a member of the Private Client team at our Wrexham head office. Frances qualified as a solicitor in 2018 and joined GHP Legal in April 2021 after working for six years at Bartletts Solicitors, first in Wrexham and then in Chester.
Dealing with all aspects of private client work including obtaining probate, administration of estates, inheritance tax matters, powers of attorney and the preparation of wills, Frances joined GHP Legal at a particularly busy time, due to the effects of the coronavirus pandemic.
Several members of our private client team are members of STEP (Society of Trusts & Estates Practitioners) and Frances is currently studying towards gaining her STEP qualification. STEP is a global professional body, comprising of lawyers, accountants, financial advisors and other practitioners that help families plan for their futures. The aim of STEP is to provide confidence to families, by setting high standards, training and educating its members, and upholding those standards.
A Wrexham girl through and through, Frances only left the town when she went away to Liverpool John Moores University to study law. She graduated from there in 2014 with a 2:1 degree in Law and opted to go on and take her Legal Practice Course remotely. Attending the university only for exams and the occasional teaching session, it enabled her to work full time alongside her LPC studies. Joining Bartletts Solicitors as a secretary, she then became an assistant and was subsequently offered a training contract.
When she is not working, Frances has a keen interest in watching all kinds of sport. She particularly enjoys football and rugby union and greatly missed attending live matches during the pandemic lockdowns, as well as travelling and live music. One thing that did remain on the activity agenda, however, was walking and exploring with her partner and boisterous young cocker spaniel.
