Caitlin Hughes

Paralegal

Caitlin Hughes is part of our Criminal Law team and is based in our Wrexham office.

Caitlin Hughes is a Paralegal providing support in both our Prison Law and Criminal Law departments. She joined GHP Legal in August 2023 after gaining a 2:1 degree in Law from University of Chester and deciding she wanted to work in a personal area of law where she could use her knowledge and skills to help people.

GHP Legal has one of the region’s largest Criminal Law teams and has over many years gained an enviable reputation in the Courts. Led by two Partners, the team consists of nine specialist practitioners and is able to represent clients in all situations, from Police Station to Magistrates, County Court and High Court. In recent years the department has, in particular, grown its specialist Prison Law team who are dedicated and committed to looking after prisoners’ rights and providing comprehensive advice and assistance throughout their sentences.

Alongside doing her Law degree, Caitlin worked in a retail management role where she helped and supported others to develop skills and progress towards a better future. She believes this to be of significant value to her current role, enabling her to help prisoners within a challenging environment to prepare for sentence progression and release into the community. Caitlin’s straightforward manner and ability to get right to the heart of an issue in an insightful manner means she can build an instant rapport with clients and professionals alike, to achieve the best results.

Caitlin is currently working towards completing her Legal Practice Course and Masters of Law, a postgraduate degree designed to enhance academic legal knowledge. When she did her Law degree it was during Covid lockdown, so there was little opportunity for social activities. A naturally active person, she was however able to indulge her passion for walking. Caitlin describes herself as a very social person who enjoys travel and spending time with family and friends. Following her current studies, she hopes to travel to Asia.
