ABOUT US
GHP Legal has associations dating back some forty years with private and commercial clients in the market town of Oswestry and surrounding areas in Shropshire and Mid-Wales. OUR LOCATION
One of the main gateways to North and Mid Wales, the charming market town of Oswestry lies on the Shropshire borders, 66 miles west of Birmingham. The A5 trunk road which joins the A483 and A495 at Oswestry is not only the main route from the Midlands to North Wales but is also the primary route to Holyhead and ferries to Ireland. The town is known as a Heritage Railway Centre and is home to the Cambrian Heritage Railway. It is also famed for its unusually large number of pubs per head of population, many of which sell Real Ale, and was home to the Great War Poet, Wilfred Owen. Surrounded by stunning countryside, Oswestry sits on a gently rising slope 400ft above sea level, joining the Shropshire Plain with the Berwyn Mountains. Combining the charm of an old market town with the cheerful bustle of a modern and progressively growing commercial and residential centre, Oswestry has a unique mixture of Welsh and English culture, making it the ideal location for GHP Legal to operate two satellite offices. Willow Street, which was where we opened the first of our two offices, was once considered as the town centre which subsequently relocated nearer to the railway and the Smithfield Market.
HOW TO GET TO US
Our office at The Albany, 37-39 Willow Street, is situated opposite The Willow Gallery and Café on the B5069, approached from Church Street on the one-way system. Willow Street was at one time the main part of the town and continues to be a main thoroughfare.
Our front entrance is wheelchair friendly, straight off the pavement, and there is time limited on-street parking outside the offices. We also have a limited number of parking spaces at the rear of the building, approached off Welsh Walls before Cae Glas Parc. There are a number of public carparks nearby, the nearest being Oswestry Central Carpark.
Public transport links to Oswestry include rail, bus and coach. The nearest railway station is at Gobowen, close to the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital. The station has two platforms and hourly trains run south to Cardiff and north to Chester and Holyhead. The station is linked to Oswestry town centre by buses. Oswestry bus station is a 7-minute walk from Willow Street. The coach park next to the Old Station Building, Oswald Road, also offers free parking.
With a population of around 75,000, Oswestry is the third-largest market town in Shropshire, following Telford and Shrewsbury. It is also one of the oldest towns, dating back to the Iron Age 800 BC to AD 43, and has one of the best-preserved hillforts in Britain.
MORE ABOUT US
GHP Legal opened its first office in Oswestry in 2000 after merging with law firm Brown & Lloyd, formerly A W Brown & Co which had provided legal services in the town since 1980. Two of our current partners, Senior Partner Richard Lloyd, and John Hulme, a former Shropshire County cricketer, were partners of Brown & Lloyd
