Emma Simoes is a Partner and Joint Head of the Crime, Regulatory & Prison Law Department at our Wrexham Office. She qualified as a solicitor in 2010 and has since practised exclusively in criminal law, building extensive experience across a wide range of cases in courts throughout Wales. Emma became a Partner in 2017 and achieved Higher Criminal Court Advocate status in 2024.

Emma specialises in serious and high-profile criminal matters in the Crown Court and Court of Appeal. Her caseload includes complex fraud, drug supply and importation, as well as cases involving murder, rape, and other grave offences.

She is a member of the Law Society’s Criminal Litigation Accreditation Scheme and also serves on the local Court and 24-hour Police Station Duty Solicitor Scheme. Emma has substantial experience in DWP and Local Authority prosecutions and is able to advise and assist clients during interviews under caution with these agencies.

As one of the founding partners of the firm’s Prison Law Department, Emma is able to support clients throughout the entire criminal justice process—from arrest, interview, charge, and court representation through to providing advice during periods of detention. She is committed to ensuring clients secure the earliest possible release where imprisonment occurs.

Emma is known for her professional yet compassionate approach and consistently goes above and beyond for her clients. She has a particular passion for youth court work, where she has developed strong relationships with young clients and is recognised for her dedicated and robust representation.

Born and raised in Wrexham, Emma remains actively involved in the local community through regular voluntary work. Outside of her professional commitments, she enjoys spending quality time with her family and taking long walks with her partner.
