An Oswestry breast cancer survivor will be celebrating her 20th year "in the pink" next week by raising money to support the 'Wear it Pink' Breast Cancer campaign that has given support and hope to so many women like her everywhere.
Irene Eke, a receptionist with leading Oswestry law firm GHP Legal, was given only a 10 per cent chance of survival after receiving major breast surgery in 1993, but she fought her way back to good health and has been raising awareness and funds for the ‘Pink' campaign ever since.
This year Irene can be seen at GHP Legal's Willow Street offices, on Friday 25th October, modelling a pair of pink bunny ears given to her by the grand-daughter she may never have seen. As well as persuading all the Partners and staff at GHP Legal to donate £2 to the appeal, she is also urging anyone who is passing by to drop in and make a donation as well.
Richard Lloyd, a partner of the firm, said: "Irene is one of the most cheerful people I have ever met and she is an inspiration to other breast cancer sufferers and survivors in the town. We are all proud of the way she handled her illness and are always keen to support her fundraising."
