Wrexham solicitor Emma Jacobs, who works in the private client department at leading law firm GHP Legal, has issued a statement thanking the firm’s clients for helping to raise £2205 for charity during the Will Aid 2014 campaign.
Staff at GHP Legal gave their time and expertise free of charge during the November 2014 campaign to write Wills for local people and help them to secure the future for their loved ones.
“Those solicitors who join the scheme work long hours during the campaign,” adds Emma, “but it is well worth it. Our fundraising success is however also a testament to the generosity of those people who came forward to have their will written and GHP Legal would like to thank them.”
Will Aid is the UK’s leading charity will-writing scheme. Solicitors who join the scheme aim to give everyone the opportunity to write or update a will, securing a donation for the Will Aid charities instead of taking a fee.
Once all donations have been submitted to Will Aid they are split equally between nine well-known UK charities, which this year included ActionAid, Age UK, British Red Cross, Christian Aid, NSPCC, Save the Children, Sightsavers, SCIAF (Scotland) and Trocaire (Northern Ireland).
“Supporting Will Aid is something all proper, decent solicitors should do,” said GHP Legal Managing Partner, Robert Williams, “not least because it acts as a reminder to clients that they need to update an existing will, or indeed make a will, to put their affairs in order.”
