Two charities are set to benefit after an Owestry solicitor completed a 42 mile walk on Saturday to celebrate his 58th birthday.
Richard Lloyd, a partner in the Oswestry office of leading Shropshire and North Wales law firm, GHP Legal, completed the Rotary Across Wales Walk in 15 hours and 40 minutes. Sponsored by family, friends and work colleagues, he expects to have raised in the region of £1,000 to be shared between Cancer Research and Genesis Research.
On reaching the Anchor Inn in the remote southwest Shropshire hamlet of Anchor which lies just 400 metres away from the Welsh border, a happy but exhausted Mr Lloyd said: “I am very pleased to have completed the walk and would like to thank everyone who sponsored me. In reality it was very tough and I am more than a little sore as a result.”
