The partners of a law firm with offices in Wrexham, Oswestry and Llangollen celebrated the firm’s 55th anniversary on Friday 11th July by inviting staff and former partners to join them for afternoon tea followed by an evening river cruise.
The recent event echoed a similar celebration held thirty years ago, when GHP Legal, one of the region’s largest independent law firms, celebrated its 25th anniversary by hosting a special outing for the loyal staff who had supported it’s growth from a small local practice into a leading law provider.
In 2020 the firm had intended to commemorate its 50th anniversary with another celebratory event, recognising five decades of dedicated service to its extensive client base across North and Mid-Wales and Shropshire. However, these plans were inevitably postponed due to the COVID pandemic.
In the wake of lockdown, the firm focused on stabilising operations and dealing with an exceptional increase in workload. This surge was driven initially by a high demand for Will updates and the creation of Lasting Powers of Attorney, and subsequently by clients wanting to take advantage of the temporary stamp duty holiday. Many others returned to address legal matters that had been deferred during the height of the pandemic.

With business now fully resumed, the firm’s partners thought it fitting to revisit and revive the long-awaited celebrations. On Friday 11th July they invited the entire team – approximately one hundred staff members - to enjoy an afternoon tea at the Chester Grosvenor Hotel, followed by a private evening river cruise aboard the Lady Diana with live entertainment.
Richard Lloyd the firm’s Senior Partner said:
“We carefully crafted the event to ensure that as many of our staff members as possible could participate in either or both aspects of the day. It was truly a pleasure to have the opportunity to welcome not only our current team but also three former partners, including the esteemed Gethin Davies, who played a pivotal role as one of our founding partners. His presence added a special dimension to the event, reflecting our strong legacy and continued growth.”
