The head of one of the area's largest Family and Mental Health legal teams has helped to raise more than 700 pound for charity by swapping his city suit for a pair of jeans and picking up a bass guitar.

John Lancaster, a Partner in the Wrexham head office of GHP Legal, performed with other members of the band, Jazzectomy, at a live music charity event staged at the end of June at Alexanders in Chester. It was the band's first public gig.

All proceeds from the event went to Nightingale House Hospice, a charity which has long been supported by GHP Legal who often act on behalf of patients.

Speaking after the event Mr Lancaster said: "It was a fantastic night and I cannot thank everyone who supported us enough. Seeing the faces of so many colleagues and friends in the audience did a lot to quell our first night nerves and we really didn't expect to raise as much as we did for Nightingale House.
