Wrexham lawyer faces gruelling Three Peaks Challenge for cancer charity

A Wrexham Solicitor is in training for the gruelling National Three Peaks Challenge due to take place over the weekend of 8 June 2013.

Peter Blakemore, a commercial property, business and licencing law specialist who is based in the Wrexham head office of leading North Wales law firm GHP Legal, is taking part in the event to raise money for Tenovus, the Wales based cancer charity.

Mr Blakemore decided to take up the Three Peaks Challenge which involves walking the highest mountains in Scotland, England and Wales within 24 hours, in memory of several members of his family who lost their lives to cancer in recent years.

Starting with a 1344m up Ben Nevis in Scotland he will go on to ascend the 978m of Scafell Pike and complete the challenge with a 1085m climb up Snowdon.

Maelor School and Yale College educated Mr Blakemore said: "In a practice walk up Snowdon in the middle of May we were subjected to high winds and heavy rain. It was tough going but I am determined to complete the challenge, whatever the weather throws at us on the day, to raise as much money as I can for Tenovus.

"I have heard all about the amazing work done by Tenovus in offering support, advice and treatment for cancer patients where it is most needed, in the heart of the community. I have already had a lot of support for the Challenge from family, friends and colleagues at GHP Legal and I hope many more people will sponsor me through www.justgiving.com/Peter-Blakemore and in doing so assist Tenovus to help in the prevention and treatment of cancer."
