A leading North Wales law firm has appointed a dedicated Consultant Solicitor to deal with an increasing upsurge in its commercial property business, especially in relation to secured lending.
GHP Legal, which with offices in Wrexham, Chirk, Llangollen and Oswestry is one of the largest law firms in the area, has appointed Elwyn Edwards to handle its commercial panel work.
Specialising in commercial property transactions of all types, Welsh speaker, Elwyn, has acted for institutional investors, property developers, major landlords and most of the High Street lending institutions.
During his career Elwyn gained a considerable reputation for heavyweight property transactions and development and for handling the purchase and sale of holiday and caravan parks, including some of the most prestigious along the North Wales coast. He also acted for one of the country’s largest institutional property investors as well as the Liverpool Diocesan Board of Finance, a major property owner in Liverpool and Lancashire.
Elwyn joins GHP Legal from international law firm, Hill Dickinson, where he was a Partner for over 30 years. From his new base at the Wrexham head office of GHP Legal he expects to act for commercial property clients right across North and Mid Wales and says he is delighted to be living in Wales once more.
“Having been born and raised on a farm in Pentrefoelas near Betws y Coed, I attended Llanrwst Grammar School before graduating in Law at the University of Liverpool and staying in that city for most of my career,” he said. “Joining GHP Legal has enabled me to return to my Welsh roots.”
“As well as supporting the Property Department at GHP Legal, taking advantage of my many friends and contacts in Wales I will also be assisting the further development of the Property Finance Team . This is an exciting and re-invigorating change and my new colleagues, who are a very talented and professional group, have made me feel very welcome.”
