Q&A What happens about the house and pension if I divorce cheating husband?

I’ve just discovered my husband is having an affair, and I’m in complete panic. I don’t want to talk to anyone I know about it. So many questions in my head. What happens to our house if we divorce? I gave up work to look after the children, so will I get some of his pension? Please tell me what I need to do.

Q&A What will happen to my Will if my solicitor dies?

I made my Will over twenty years ago with my solicitor who is a one-man band, and he has it stored at his premises ever since. He is still practicing but must be getting on for 80 at least, which makes me wonder what will happen to my Will if he dies? Should I ask him for it and store it somewhere else?

Q&A Would a solicitor be able to help with our planning objections?

Our village is fast turning into a town, with housing estates springing up on every side. Unlike traditional towns, however, we have no shops, no petrol station, no schools, no wide roads and no doctors’ surgery or employment facilities. Should we consider seeking the help of a solicitor to fight our corner?

Q&A Can I be prosecuted because my dog bit someone?

My dog escaped at the weekend and attacked another dog walking nearby with its owner. It took me a while to get to them, by which time the other dog owner had tried to intervene and got bitten. My dog has never done anything like this before. The other dog owner said she was going to report me to the police. Will they make me put my dog down? Can they prosecute me?

Q&A Are there statistics to show how successful DIY divorces are?

We parted two years ago but have not got round to divorcing, largely because of the cost involved. My wife lives with her new partner in his house while I have stayed in the marital home with our children. We agreed the children would live between us and we share the cost of their needs. However, I now feel that I want to move on with my life and to do that I think I need to formalise matters. My wife won’t see a solicitor because she says she can’t afford it. My question is, are there any statistics to show how successful DIY divorces are?
