My parents separated a few years ago but have never bothered divorcing. Now my mother has been diagnosed with dementia and I have discovered that she didn’t update her Will after my father left her. Is it too late for her to do it now she has received her diagnosis?

I took on a couple of non-UK employees during lockdown when the ‘right to work’ checks were relaxed due to the pandemic, so I only received copies of their documents from the employment agency by email. I believe the temporary arrangements regarding right to work have now ended, so does this mean I need to do the checks again?

I am under huge pressure at work because of staff cutbacks. I don’t know how much longer I can go on. I work late every day without extra pay, and I go home exhausted. My partner flatly refuses to make a Will simply because he doesn’t like talking about death! He says we own our home together so if he dies it will automatically pass to me, and I have plenty of my own money to live off, and his children will automatically inherit everything else he has. My daughter bought a second-hand car from a garage in July this year. She paid £8,500 for it, which included the trade-in of her old car. Since getting it, she has had to take it back twice because the front footwells keep filling with water after a heavy downpour of rain. Both times the garage said they could find nothing wrong, and it must be because she doesn’t clear the leaves out of the windscreen gutter. Now it has happened again, and they say they can do nothing more. Can she return the car and demand a refund?

My wife and I moved our business online when lockdown came and have been so successful that we have already expanded once. Now we have plans to diversify and bring our children into the business. At some stage we may consider outside shareholdings as a way of attracting investment to expand even further. If we do this, would setting up a family trust protect our family interests?
